Happy Birthday Luke

My little boy is 5, as of yesterday.  It's hard to believe that much time has gone by.  Time flys when you're having fun!

Luke was born in Provo while Adam was going to school weighing 8lbs2oz.  Much bigger than I was expecting.  He has been my most laid back baby, which wasn't always a good thing.  Luke came into this world not knowing how to cry which, of course, has it's upsides.  He never really figured it out until he was 2 months old. 

Luke also liked to sleep, a lot.  So much that he would rather do that than eat.  Hence, nursing didn't really go that great and it wasn't until we finally switched fully to formula around 7 months that he gained weight properly, not that he was ever super skinny but still.

So for his big 5 Birthday party, we asked him what he wanted.  Cake, plenty of toys, and no friends over.  He said aunts and uncles would be fine but really, he doesn't like tons of attention.  Reminds me of me at that age. 

So Heather (adam's sis) came over and we had a blast.  Mac and Cheese with hot dogs for dinner, a lighthning McQueen pinata, plenty of toys, and an ice cream cake.

I asked Luke a few of his favorite things just for the record.  Here they are:

food - mashed potatoes with hot dogs and cheese mixed in
friend - edgar (the neighbor who we don't actually see too much.  this one surprised me.  he's also 8.)
book - Bisquit (about a dog)
game - Killer Bunnies (we modifiy it for the kids) and battleship
thing to do - go to the big park
color - purple and red (although this changes frequently)
toy - the robot jacob got him for his birthday

Luke's about 40lbs and average size.  Pretty laid back kid.  Quiet in the presence of lots of people (school and church).  He lately really likes to practice all things letters, numbers, and shapes which has been great because it took him a long time to be interested.  He'll be reading soon.  This morning we worked on a few simple sentences.  He loves playing games and playing outside on our "pirate boat" (two scout boats we get to house).  He also loves to wrestle with Jacob and Dad and does really well.

He's a pretty active kid and is a really happy winner and a mad loser when racing.  He's a great big brother and loves to play with Jacob and Jane.  I'm so glad we had our kids close together.
